A Compact Winch

In 2019, I was selected to present at the United States Institute for Technical Theatre's Annual Conference. This was the culmination of a research project into affordable automation. My goal was to create an introductory project to automated motor control- showing how off the shelf parts could be configured into a practical product. This winch can be easily configured for speed, position control, wireless remote activation, all depending on the needs of the user, and for under $200.

This compact winch allows for simple, quick raising and lowering of lightweight objects, with repeatable position and speed controls.
